Lovely #cornusmas going in at our #newrivergarden today. It’s an undemanding small tree and will have small bright yellow flowers that unusually open before the leaves in very early Spring. With leaves that will turn a reddish purple in a few weeks and bright red cherry like fruit, we reckon it’s a bit of a stunner and so does our client. I would have never imagined this concept – a gravel garden. But Sally introduced me to the idea in real life. At Beth Chatto’s Garden, we found a solution for my garden in Burgundy, France. Over the past 4 or 5 years, the summers have been so long and hot, that it has been very difficult to build a colourful and gorgeous garden that I could maintain even if not there every day. Sally brought the gravel garden idea to us, then provided the plan beyond our imagination, and recommended the providers that could supply exactly the plants we needed. And this was all during the most challenging period of our lives. After just one visit she was able to help us plan and dig and buy and enjoy our garden.
